My Story

Debbie from Tala Home and Living started her journey as a curator and retailer doing pop up shops and markets in Goa and the UK, collecting her favourite fabrics and pieces as she travelled around the world.

Hi. I’m Debbie, the designer and maker behind Tāla Home and Living. Thank you for stopping by.

My design story started on journeys around the world. As I travelled, I collected my favourite fabrics and pieces. I spent time with local artisans and began to curate pop up shops and markets in India and the UK.

Back home inspired by the natural hues and traditional techniques I had discovered, I decided to study design and upholstery. I immersed myself in a universe of colours and patterns finding ways to use traditional prints to create unique home accessories that befit the contemporary home.

By adding linen and eco-friendly paints to my collection of hand printed fabrics, I have been able to create a lush palette that appeals to design enthusiasts and well-travelled home curators.

I buy directly from artisans or from other ethical businesses and I choose fabrics and materials that are as eco-friendly as possible, as I believe we can all do our bit to help each other and the planet.
